The story takes place in late 19th century Russia. The dashing nobleman Count Alexei Vronsky met Anna Karenina, the young and charming wife of an influential government official. After a brief meeting, the two fell in love with each other. For both of them, this relationship was the first time they felt true love, so strong that desperate Anna chose to break the conventions of high society and leave behind her husband and son in St. Petersburg, escaping the glamour and luxury of Russian aristocratic society with Vronsky. But the fairy tale of love soon came to an end, fate tested their relationship.
The musical captures the subtle psychological and emotional depth in Leo Tolstoy's great novels.
